Journey beyond the clouds

Day 01: Arrival

Flying to Bhutan is one of the most spectacular flying experience you will have, as your plane weaves between the majestic himalayan ranges before you have an exciting descent into Paro airport. On arrival at Paro airport, you will be received by our representative and they will take you on a short one-hour drive along the Paro and Thimphu river valleys to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital situated at 2320 metres above sea level. You can stop on the way to see the magnificent Tamchog Lhakhang, famously known for its iron bridge that was built in the 15th century by the famous saint/artist Thangtong Gyalpo.

Overnight in Thimphu.

 

Day 02: Sightseeing in and around capital city

Sightseeing in Thimphu includes: National Memorial Chorten, the National Painting School and Changangkha Temple. Browse the striking collection of intricate textiles at the National Textile Museum and visit the Folk Museum. You may also be able to visit the local handicrafts shops along the road and the weekend market.

Overnight in Thimphu.

 

Day 03: Head to the winter capital of Bhutan, Punakha

In the morning, drive to Punakha via the Dochu La Pass, where we will stop for a cup of coffee and to enjoy views of the northern Himalaya ranges. In the afternoon, visit Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility), built in the 15th century by the ‘Divine Mad Man’ (Lama Drukpa Kuenley).

Day 04: Return to Paro

Have an early breakfast  and head to Paro.  Vehicle sightseeing – Lunch will be served at Thimphu and then travel directly to Paro. In the afteroon you can spend some time to visit handicraft shops to buy souvenirs OR you can spend an evening at a local farmhouse and learn to make the traditional butter tea with the farmer and his family.

Day 05: Sightseeing within Paro / Optional: Haa Excursion

Sightseeing in Paro, including Paro Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum. After lunch – visit Drukgyel Dzong (‘fortress of victory’) and the sacred Kyichu Lhakhang (temple). Leisure – enjoy the nature. Overnight in Paro.

 

Day 06: Famous Taktsang Hike

After Breakfast you will be hiking to the famous Taktsang Monastery – most commonly known as the Tiger’s Nest. The total hike will take about 6-8 hours. Lunch will be served at the base. Aftter lunch, drive to north to check out mount Jomolhari view. (Please dont forget to bring your cameras to take pictures of the spectacular himalayan ranges)

 

Day 07: Departure

Depending on your flight schedule, our representative will help you check out of your hotel and drop you at the Paro airport to fly out of Bhutan and to your next destination.
